My Story

(what's not in the CV)
2000How it all started

Hi, I’m Tudor, a user experience designer with a web development background.

My passion for building stuff began when I was 12, years after I got my first PC.

At the time, around 2000, I didn’t have internet at home, so I would use these: (no, not the save icon 🙂) to save web pages that I would reverse-engineer at home.

(not) my first PC

No, mine
was a PC

2003At some point, after experimenting with building websites, I made a 2D car game, since I enjoyed car games (I still do). It was the first time I’d think of interactions.

2004Fast forward a couple of years to high school, when I started professionally building websites, which later got me my first job as a web designer at an agency.

The first iPhone - my entry into UX

2009A couple of years after, I got to work with mobile teams after the original iPhone was launched.

The 1st app design I ever
made for the 1st iPhone

I was working as a front-end developer, but the passion for what the original iPhone stood for made me want to spend more time creating for it, which, years later, I managed to do full-time.

2011Silicon Valley / San Francisco

My longer stay in Silicon Valley helped me shape my career through the trainings I received there, while collaborating with a startup with tens of thousands of users.

The experience was eye-opening, I got to see how a product first company works, from planning to UX, to development, to marketing and operations.

nowToday

Fast forward now, after years of working across all platforms, I still work as a UX consultant, handling small to large projects across all platforms (mobile, web, tablets, desktop or TV).

I’ve seen all platforms mature and apps grow, and grew with them, alongside with friends that I made along the way in the field, with which I keep in touch as back in the days when we all started out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions that people ask me. Don't find a question?

What is your process?

My process fosters fast iteration based on user needs before implementation, to help reduce dev time and costs.

It involves understanding your goals, conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, and iterating based on feedback.

I usually start a new project using the Triple Diamond method, a structured approach that emphasizes three phases of exploration, definition, and development. This ensures that designs are continuously tested and refined based on real user feedback, resulting in solutions that are both user-centered and effective.

What tools do you use?

I design in Figma, make interactive prototypes in Figma, but also use ProtoPie and After Effects for more detailed protoypes where needed. I handoff using Figma Dev mode and Zeplin. I test the interactive prototypes cross-platform with users with Figma Mirroring App.

What's your typical timeline for a project?

Landing page - 2-4 weeks, app designs/flows or websites depend on complexity, but general kick-off for a project is within a week, and you get to see progess every 3-4 days. Please book a call to discuss specific needs.

Do you do user research or usability testing?

Yes, I do both qualitative and quantitative research, usually based on the triple diamond method (see: What is your process question?). I also do usability testing for new/existing features/flows.

Can you redesign an existing product?

Sure, I can redesign an existing product. I can improve the experience based on new, user-tested flows, or by looking at specs, quantitative data (e.g. Analytics) and tracked KPIs of the existing flows. I can also improve the user interface of your application.

What happens after the design is delivered?

Design handoff is just the beginning. I provide detailed specs, assets, and documentation to ensure a smooth transition to development. From there, I stay closely involved - answering questions, reviewing builds, and gathering feedback from users and stakeholders. I treat the post-launch phase as an opportunity to iterate once more to refine and improve the experience based on real-world usage.

Do you also implement landing pages or websites?

Yes, I have a 6 years front-end development experience, so I can use my skills and my own lightweight CSS (SCSS) framework and help implement the interactions and accesibile and performant JS components and classes that are part of the user experience.

What about analytics?

I can help provide guidance on how to set up Analytics events and reports that are relevant to your project.

What about accessibility?

Accessibility is built into every stage of my process - from choosing WCAG-compliant colors to ensuring full keyboard navigation and screen reader support. I design with inclusivity in mind, providing specifications and developing for screen readers / keyboard navigation, and more.

How do you handle feedback and revisions?

I approach feedback with an open mind and a user-first mindset. I actively listen to understand the "why" behind each comment, whether it comes from users, stakeholders, or developers. From there, I prioritize revisions based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with project goals-always iterating with clarity and purpose to improve the experience.

Do you do A/B testing?

Yes, I can provide desigs ready to be A/B tested and provide development guidelines on how to set up A/B tests in web and mobile apps in production.
